Welcome to my world of photography
— iryna volkova
My name is Iryna, and I am absolutely captivated by the art of capturing moments through the lens. Photography has been my lifelong passion, and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to pursue what I love. Every photograph I take is a reflection of my perspective, a way to freeze time and encapsulate emotions. Through my work, I strive to evoke a sense of wonder, beauty, and connection. Whether it’s a breathtaking landscape, a candid portrait, or a spontaneous street scene, I am constantly seeking those fleeting moments that tell stories and stir emotions.
My photography journey began in orphanage camps, where I dedicated my time as a volunteer. Moved by orphans stories, I instinctively reached for my camera, realizing that photography had the power to document not just moments, but also to amplify voices that are often unheard. In those orphanage camps, I learned the art of capturing raw emotions, of freezing fleeting expressions that tell stories of hope, strength, and longing. Through the lens, I endeavored to honor the lives and experiences of those who had captured my heart. One of the most heartwarming aspects of my photography journey has been the privilege of capturing moments with children. Witnessing their pure joy and wonder as they see themselves through the lens has been an incredibly touching experience. Children possess an innate curiosity and uninhibited spirit that radiates through every photograph. Their innocence and genuine expressions remind me of the beauty and simplicity that can be found in life’s smallest moments. As I captured their images, I noticed how their faces lit up with delight and excitement when they saw themselves on the screen. It was as if they discovered a new version of themselves—a moment frozen in time, reflecting their uniqueness and boundless potential.
Studying to become a social worker provided me with a profound understanding of human interactions and the complexities of society. It deepened my empathy and broadened my perspective, which in turn influenced my approach to photography. I realized that capturing moments was not just about aesthetics but also about telling stories that shed light on social issues and fostered understanding.
